Here in Manitoba, we share everything and many of the files are adapted for each region, which increases consistency around the province. We also have educators using the 20 hour course (which we do over two days). We use the WRHA breastfeeding practice guidelines and the most are using the LATCH-R tool. PHN contacts / visits within 48 hours do make a difference. We definitely need more trained peer support.

What are your thoughts on continuity of care for breast feeding families? In my experience as a nursing student I have seen many mothers frustrated on the lack of continuity of information, advice, and care they receive regarding breast feeding from health care professionals, the media, and friends or family. Is there anything being done in this area to improve care that you know of? If not, what suggestions would you have?
